Last Moment Trip Planned To Vihigaon Waterfall & Vaitarna Dam View Point

By Yogi

As weekend keeps coming closer, it makes all riding people uneasy to sit at home and In my case – I was working on Saturday (there was not much plan for ride because of work overload), but wanted to go for some short ride like breakfast or lunch ride. So Saturday evening when my friend Aniket visited my home, (his plan was also cancelled for the weekend and was free for Sunday), I casually asked him for a breakfast ride?

He said yes! But instead of breakfast ride he wanted to go to Vihigaon waterfall, because 2 years back he had visited this place but due to a lot of rush he could not attempt the waterfall rappelling activity there. So he was very eager to try that activity. I thought for a while and said yes, as my only purpose was to ride and chill at a new place. I have never been to vihigaon waterfall, so I quickly wrapped up the work for the day by evening, checked all routes and maps. Also in night itself, had done chain cleaning and lubing, packed necessary things and went to sleep.

Things which should be carried during ride

  • Puncture kit
  • Tarp Sheet (I didn’t carry this)
  • Tool kit / medical Kit / Pain killers
  • Chain Cleaner / chain lube [ if going for 300 – 400+ Km]

Sunday Morning we started our ride at 5 am, as my friend Aniket joined me as pillion. We took first halt at kasara ghat for breakfast around 6.30 am and reached at vihigaon waterfall around 7.40 am. The people were already enjoying the waterfall. I was fully geared up so was searching for place to keep my all my riding gears. Sadly didn’t get any place, so adjusted on the ground, with the help of newspaper bought by my friend.

[Quick tips – if you are planning to visit this place by bike see to that u carry saddle bag with a proper lock or better come by car]

After getting all set, my friend started with water rappelling activity organized by some professional groups. The height of the waterfall was around 80feet and activity did seem pretty amazing. I would suggest you definitely try this activity once and it will hardly cost you around 500-800 bucks depending on which services group is carrying out the activity.

After vihigaon we geared up and planned for next spot in our list, which was vaitarna dam view point hardly 35km via khodala from vihigaon. We had light snacks at khodala and also carried some with us for next halt. Finally we reached at Vaitaran Dam view point, which is a very beautiful place, less crowded, less noise and very calm.

After getting rejuvenated we planned to go for dabhosa waterfall near the Jawhar city. On the way, we visited wild camp resort (very nice place to Chill out with friends-family, but very expensive). Also, on the way we passed Devbandh temple (This place has Ganesh temple and a decent waterfall). Riding ahead we reached jawhar city & decided to halt for lunch. After having tummy full lunch, we started feeling kind of lazy to go ahead for dabhosa. Both of us did not have any idea about this dabhosa waterfall. The point we planned was only a waterfall view from distance & may have involved a trek. Anyways, after the adventure at Vihigaon, the chilled rest at the scenic Vaitarna Dam lake and that Chicken meal, we were done for the day. So after a little discussion we decided to wrap our journey there itself rather than going to dhabosa. After that we checked map and moved ahead towards NH 48, once connected to kasa (before charoti) we continued towards home by completing another 100-130 km.

Summary :-

  • Total Km were done 365 km – The data was taken from Trip Meter
  • Places Covered Vihigaon waterfall, Vaitarna Dam view point, Devbandh temple , Wild camp resort
  • Bike was – Mahindra Mojo (No issue were faced during whole journey)
